Today we had Mina from Project Jonah come and talk to the Enviro group about Project Jonah.
We found out about all the different dolphins and whales.
This is how big a hump back whale can get.
And this how big a blue whale can get. Their heart is as big as a small car!
We learnt what we could do to help.
Mina showed us what happens to plastic bags in the sea so we all need to do what we can to stop using plastic and making sure we stop rubbish ending up in the sea.
We learnt what do you do if you find a stranded whale.
First you ring someone.
Then you keep then wet, pour water on them, cover them with wet material, but make sure no water goes down the blow hole, and don't move them.
We gave Mina the money from our Sea creatures dress up day for Project Jonah.
Thanks Mina for coming and chatting to us. We were very pleased to support Project Jonah.

Sea creature challenge!
Yesterday the Year 5 and 6s from the Enviro Team met for a team building session.
In teams we had to turn one of our team into a sea creature.
We only had paper, felts, boxes and masking tape.
First we planned what we would make.
Then we got creating.
We put them on our model.
Our finished sea creatures. Can you work out what they are?
Great team work on show today everyone.

Sea Week- Sea creature dress-up day!
We had so many cool sea creatures at school today. The whole school was swimming with fish, octopus, pirates, mermaids, turtles, jelly fish, and many more sea creatures.
We gathered in the hall to show off our outfits.
Here are a few of the amazing costumes.
We also raised $140 to give to Project Jonah to help look after whales.
Nga mihi Johnsonville School. You looked amazing!
