Silver Reflection Delay!

On Thursday the 30th of November we had our Enviroschools Silver Reflection day. We had to prove that we had made enough change to move from a Bronze or to a Silver!

We welcomed Arihia and Chloe, our Enviroschools facilitators, to guide us through the process.
Mr Schon, Mr Ziogos, and Liz from our Board of Trustees also joined us for the day, as well as Elise one of last year Enviro leaders
After introductions we shared our awa of our Enviroschools journey and shared our new vision.
Then we took our visitors on a tour of the school sharing what we have been up to

Morning tea time, popcorn, rhubarb muffins and rhubarb cordial, made from produce from our veggie garden!
In groups we gathered our proof.
Then we collated it and identified our next steps.
Then decided had we met the silver criteria.
At hui that afternoon we proudly announced that Johnsonville was now a SILVER Enviroschool!

Kawakawa ointment

Last week the juniors in enviro group joined te reo extension and Whaea Adrienne to make kawakawa ointment.
First we put kawakawa leaves in a double boiler.
We covered the leaves with olive oil and put them on the double boiler for 3 hours.
Next we strained the solution and added beeswax.
 Made the labels.
 The jars ready!
Then filled them.
Our amazing kawakawa ointment- Rangoa pani kawawkawa.
